About

Hi, I’m Jenni

I’m a dreamer, an optimist, a glass-half-full kind of gal.
Everyday I look for the humor and beauty in life, and I try to capture it in my writing and my photography.
On this site you’ll find my stories, my photography, and other artwork I have made. You’ll also find lots of tips, tricks, and DIY’s, and hopefully some laughs along the way.

Please follow my blog so you don’t miss a thing!

Welcome!

I’ve carved out this little space of the internet to use as a creative outlet, and I’m so excited to share it with you.

Writer

A Mouth Full of Teeth is my first full length novel. I’m striving for publication, and can’t wait to hear your opinions on my work. A Mouth Full of Teeth, along with my short stories and poems is found under the Writer tab.

Photographer

I love photography. Like really, really love photography. It’s that slightly obsessive, crazy-eyes, no-you-hang-up-first kind of love of photography. I’m striving to make it as a professional photographer, and you can find a gallery of my work, and some neat tips and tricks under the Photographer tab.

Maker

Not to brag, but I’m pretty crafty. Under the Maker tab, I’ll share some things I’ve built and upcycled and provide some great How To’s.

Blogger

What’s in my head? This is where you find out. I blog about whatever suits my fancy – facing fears, music, inspiration, and the humor of everyday life. Blog Posts are found under the Blogger tab.

Okay, More About Me!

Trying to write a good About Me section

Why do you think it’s so hard to talk about yourself?
I mean, we all know some people who have no problem whatsoever talking about themselves, but it seems that most people I talk to run into a huge wall here.

I imagine my reader curling up in their chair with a steaming cup of apple cider saying “Okay! You’re here, impress me!”

Then the pressure is on. I need to be charming, funny, witty, exciting, thought provoking and unforgettable.

Just like that time I met Ethan Hawke on the street in London.

Me and Ethan

Only I failed miserably then; my feet and the pavement literally became one and my vocabulary reduced itself to two words: “Hi” and “thank you.”
And I’ve been failing miserably with the About Me section on this here blog. For days I sat at my desk watching the cursor blink, daring me to be interesting. Well, like getting into an unheated swimming pool, the best way to go is to just jump in.

So, I’m an Aries. I’m the oldest and wisest child of my family and am often referred to as “the responsible one.” I detest tomatoes. Yes, I do like ketchup, but that does not taste nor feel like a tomato, so drop it. I day dream A LOT. As a matter of fact, I’m day dreaming now. I own a purple betta fish, his name is Mr. President, AKA Potus. Gardening is an especially satisfying activity of mine and I tend to form relationships with my plants. I do have friends. I like muscle cars, football, dogs & cats (I’m a complicated woman), archery, painting, kids, graffiti and food. Especially food.

Where I’m From

I was born and raised in Midland, Texas.
If you’re looking at a map, it’s in West Texas. Far, far away from civilization and water.
Some people like to refer to us as Midland/Odessa, but we like to keep ourselves separated.

I went to Lee High School (class of 2005) and did a stint at Midland Community College.
Then I moved to Denton, Tx. (Following along on your map, it’s above Dallas.)
I attended the University of North Texas, and graduated Dec. 2009 with a B.A of Psychology, & Minor in Substance Abuse Treatment.
I now live and work in Dallas.
If you had told me 10 years ago that I would one day be living in Dallas, I would have said “Oh, thank God!”

Please leave me comments!

I’d love to hear from anyone who reads or looks at my posts. Share your thoughts, questions, ideas, jokes and whatever you want. Just don’t post spam, everyone hates it – on the net or in a can.
I read every comment and do my best to respond to everyone. Let’s get to know each other!
