I believe that it’s our duty as earthlings to take in everything this crazy, beautiful world has to offer before this strange miracle of life is over. You only get one chance to live your life, so you better make it a great one.
In light of this philosophy, I decided to finally put down on paper my Bucket List.
A Bucket List is a list of all the things you’d like to do before you die, or “kick the bucket.” It can be anything from “becoming debt free” to “climbing Mt. Everest.” It’s your list and your life!
Now, my Bucket List is pretty big because there are so many places I want to travel to, on top of all the things I’d like to experience or accomplish. I could probably fill 8 pages of college rule blue lined paper with all my travel dreams. So, instead I decided to mix things up and give you a glimpse into my bucket with…
Ten Things from Jenni’s Bucket List!
Let’s get started!
1. Sky Diving
I need to experience free fall before I die…event if it’s right before I die. This one actually terrifies me a lot.
2. Castle Dracula
This is the place where it all began! I’ve been super into vampires since I was 5 years old and I need to see the place that inspired a legacy.
3. Dive the Great Barrier Reef
A true world wonder! The colors, the sea life! I mean, how could you not want to see it?
4. Great White Shark Cage Diving
You go in the cage. Cage goes in the water. Shark’s in the water. Talk about coming to terms with your own mortality.
5. Ride a Burro Down the Grand Canyon
It’s a little dangerous, but would mostly be fun I think. It would be a great way to get a different perspective on the sheer size of the canyon, plus you get to ride on a mule.
6. Hop a Train
It just seems so exhilarating, so liberating to hop on a random train and see where it takes you. I don’t know, I’ve always wanted to do it.
7. Publish a Novel
I’m working hard on my second revision of my novel A Mouth Full of Teeth. Though I have dreams of being published by a big book company with a huge media campaign and movie rights, I’m totally leaning toward self-publishing once I get this bad boy polished. So this goal might be more short term than long term!
8. See the Changing of the Guard (Dammit!)
Ok, I have been to London twice – even went to school there for a bit – and still haven’t managed to see the changing of the guard. Each time I’ve gone to see it there’s either been a rehearsal for the Queen’s birthday, bad weather or a funeral to cancel it. Is it really that much to ask?
9. Hagia Sofia
Located in Istanbul, Turkey, the Hagia Sofia is a real testament of human achievement. The architectural elements in the church span several centuries as it took nearly a thousand years to complete (537 – 1453). You can see influences from both the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires; two styles that are strikingly different, really. There’s actually several places in Turkey and the Middle East I’d like to see, so I really need them to get their shit together.
10. Go Hunting
Whoa, whoa! Controversial! Hold on to your hats, haters.
I shoot a compound bow for fun. I shoot at targets and any fruit that looks at me funny. It’s something I really enjoy, and I’d like to take my bow a-huntin’ with me.
I want to be in the woods, I want to follow tracks and rely on my senses and literally hunt down my game. I don’t know that I would be able to take the shot.
I really don’t. I’m a big animal lover (I love the small ones too. Haaa?), and taking another creature’s life is a big deal to me. In going hunting, I think I would learn a lot about myself. Hunting is a way to be intimate with nature.
So…what’s on YOUR Bucket List?
Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for reading! =)
Draculas castle is pretty awesome so is most of the town surrounding it. In fact that was the only really cool thing in Romania. Beware of gypsies nursing fake babies to get your money though.
I definitely will watch out for that! Thanks for the tip! I’ll demand proof that the baby is indeed real before making any sort of deals with the gypsies.
What a wonderful insight into your dreams and hopes for accomplishments. I do believe you will achieve these things on your list. You never cease to amaze. The things you have already accomplished in your young life are quite enough to blow me over.
Aw, thank you! =)
